Across Gujarat, thousands of children grow up in nomadic, semi-nomadic, and disadvantaged communities families that move frequently in search of work, live without permanent addresses, or simply fall outside the reach of stable schooling and healthcare. For these children, the basics that most of us take for granted: a fixed roof, a regular school day, a doctor nearby are often out of reach.

Atmahit Foundation exists to change that.

More Than Shelter

At its core, Atmahit is built around a simple but demanding promise: every child deserves a home, a name, and a future. Not just a bed for the night, but a genuine chance to grow up safe, educated, and equipped to build an independent life.

At the Foundation’s residential campus Siddh Bhoomi, located in Palitana, Gujarat children from vulnerable backgrounds receive far more than shelter. They receive structured education, nutritious meals, healthcare, emotional support, and consistent adult guidance, often for the first time in their lives.

Why This Matters

The barriers these children face rarely show up one at a time. A child without a stable home is also usually without steady schooling. A child without proper nutrition often also lacks access to healthcare or mentorship. These challenges compound and so a piecemeal solution rarely works.

Atmahit’s approach is deliberately integrated. Rather than offering isolated aid, the Foundation combines residential care, education, health support, character development, and life-skills training into a single, continuous environment. The goal isn’t just to help a child survive a difficult circumstance, it’s to help them grow into a confident, capable, self-reliant adult.

A Philosophy Rooted in Purpose

Atmahit’s guiding line “For one’s own fulfilment, and for the welfare of the world” reflects a belief that individual growth and collective good are not separate goals. A child who is given the tools to become self-reliant doesn’t just change their own life; they change what’s possible for their family, and eventually, their community.
